About
Overview
TRL Australia facilitates a non-contact version of rugby league known as Touch Rugby League. The sport incorporates traditional rugby league elements such as kicking and play-the-balls while maintaining a fast-paced, social format. The business serves a broad demographic, organizing men’s, women’s, and mixed competitions for adults, as well as a dedicated junior program for participants between the ages of 6 and 16. The business model operates on a franchise basis, granting individuals the right to manage competition events and training sessions within a specific territory. Revenue is primarily generated through the administration of seasonal competitions and various elite-level events, including state and national championships. Franchisees utilize specialized operational systems and brand intellectual property to recruit teams and execute game schedules. The concept is partitioned into TRL Standard for adult competitions and TRL Juniors for youth development and training. Founded in 2013, the organization has expanded to a network of approximately 14 units. While the network’s primary presence is in Queensland—reaching major areas such as Brisbane, the Gold Coast, and regional hubs—operations also extend into New South Wales and Victoria. The brand is positioned within the recreational sports and community fitness sector, emphasizing an inclusive team environment alongside its competitive representative pathways.
