    About

    Overview

AFC and Sushi Izu provides Asian food products with a focus on freshly prepared sushi. The business caters to retail customers by offering a variety of handmade items including nigiri, sushi rolls, and hot food bowls. The brand primarily targets supermarket shoppers seeking convenient, high-quality meal solutions during their regular grocery visits. The operational model is based on food service counters located within larger retail environments, specifically through a strategic partnership with Woolworths supermarkets. Franchisees may operate on a full-time basis, where a manager oversees the counter daily during retail hours, or on a self-service basis. Under the self-service model, products are prepared at a primary location and delivered to secondary kiosks for display. However, the franchisor requires that any franchisee managing a self-service location must also operate a full-time service counter. Founded in 2011 with its first locations opening that December, the network has expanded significantly within the Australian quick-service restaurant sector. The brand originated from a concept established in the United States and now supports over 200 units across Australia. By embedding its outlets within established supermarket high-traffic zones, the franchise leverages existing customer footprints to maintain its market presence.

    Registry Description

The franchisee will operate a business involving the preparation and retail sale of sushi and other Asian food products from a food service counter (Food Service Counter) in a grocery store, retail store or other location under the Franchisor’s system and the “AFC”/”Sushi Izu” brand. The franchisee may operate a Food Service Counter on a: (a) full time basis (Full Time Location), meaning the franchisee’s approved manager must operate a Food Service Counter on a full time basis each day that the location (Location) where the Food Service Counter is situated is open for business; or (b) self-service basis (Self Service Location), meaning the franchisee must prepare all products for sale at the Food Service Counter at a designated location and deliver the products to the Self Service Location and place them for display. However, a franchisee will not be permitted to operate a Self Service Location unless they operate, and continue to operate, a Full Time Location.
